Description

Irish Pub Burgers combine juicy, savory beef patties with rich, hearty toppings inspired by traditional Irish pub flavors. Featuring Irish cheddar, caramelized onions, fresh vegetables, and soft brioche buns, these burgers deliver a comforting and satisfying meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat & Cheese

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 4 slices Irish cheddar cheese

Vegetables & Toppings

  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 4 leaves green leaf lettuce
  • 1 large tomato, sliced

Condiments

  • Mustard or brown sauce, as desired
  • Butter or oil for caramelizing onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Patties: Gently shape the ground beef into 4 evenly sized patties, about ¾ inch thick. Press a slight indentation into the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  2. Caramelize the Onions: Heat a bit of butter or oil in a skillet over low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until they become soft, golden brown, and slightly sweet, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Cook Patties: Preheat your grill or skillet. Cook the patties for approximately 4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness. Place a slice of Irish cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  4. Toast the Buns: Lightly toast the brioche buns on the grill or skillet until golden brown and slightly crisp to add a pleasant texture contrast.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: On the bottom bun, place a leaf of green leaf lettuce and slices of tomato. Add the cheesy beef patty on top, then spoon on caramelized onions. Finish with your choice of mustard or brown sauce before covering with the top bun.

Notes

  • Use freshly ground beef for the best taste and texture.
  • Handle patties gently to keep them juicy and tender.
  • Caramelize onions slowly to develop deep, sweet flavor.
  • Let cooked patties rest a few minutes before assembling to retain juices.
  • Toast buns well to prevent sogginess and add crunch.
