Description

King’s Hawaiian Ham and Swiss Sliders combine soft, sweet Hawaiian rolls with savory ham and nutty Swiss cheese, baked to bubbly perfection. This quick and easy recipe delivers comforting, flavorful sliders perfect for family dinners, parties, and weeknight meals. The recipe is versatile, customizable, and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser with its delightful blend of sweet, smoky, and creamy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Slider Base

  • 1 package King’s Hawaiian rolls (12 count)

Filling

  • 1 pound sliced ham (deli or leftover)
  • 8 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced

Butter Mixture

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and simplify cleanup.
  2. Slice the King’s Hawaiian Rolls: Without separating the rolls, slice the entire package horizontally in half to create two layers. This keeps the sliders together during baking.
  3. Layer Ham and Swiss Cheese: Place the bottom half of the rolls in the baking dish. Evenly layer the sliced ham over the rolls, then top with the Swiss cheese slices to ensure every slider has plenty of melty cheese.
  4. Create and Brush the Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. If using, stir in poppy seeds. Brush this mixture generously over the top half of the rolls to enhance the flavor and help develop a golden crust.
  5. Assemble and Bake: Place the top half of the rolls over the ham and cheese layer. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the sliders are warmed through.
  6. Final Bake for a Golden Finish: Remove the foil and bake an additional 5 minutes to lightly brown the tops. Let the sliders cool for a couple of minutes before slicing into individual portions.

Notes

  • Use fresh King’s Hawaiian rolls for the softest texture and best flavor.
  • Do not skip brushing the butter mixture; it adds flavor and promotes browning.
  • Covering while baking traps steam, perfectly melting the cheese without drying the rolls.
  • Allow sliders to rest briefly before serving to let the cheese set for easier slicing.
  • Double or triple the recipe to serve large groups with minimal extra effort.
